U5: 100 million for the extension – Munich

The U5 is to be extended beyond Pasing to Freiham. The city council wants to start building the underground station for the station in the center of the new district as soon as possible. The building committee approved almost 100 million euros for this on Tuesday. The construction of the subway station is to be brought forward because in the newly created quarter it is still possible to build on the “green field”, the Greens said. Otherwise, practically new roads would have to be dug up there again. Annoyance for local residents and problems with traffic would also be avoided by erecting a detention structure. The subway station should be ready by 2026. 15 new positions will be created to advance planning for the station and for the extension. At the moment the construction work for the extension to Pasing is already underway, but the city council wants more. “We need a subway line in the new district of Freiham by the early 2030s,” said SPD traffic expert Nikolaus Gradl.
