Hunter Biden has so far resisted calls to testify behind closed doors in House committees. Now there is an appointment.

US President’s son According to committees in the House of Representatives, Hunter Biden now wants to appear for questioning behind closed doors. The hearing is scheduled for February 28, said the Republican chairmen of the chamber’s control and judiciary committees. Hunter Biden had previously resisted the subpoena for such an interview. He argued that his closed-door testimony could be selectively reproduced and manipulated by Republicans. He therefore insisted on only testifying publicly. Several committee members wanted to take him to court for contempt of Congress.

The business of Hunter Biden, who has to answer in court for possible tax crimes, among other things, is repeatedly linked to his father. Republicans in the House of Representatives are pushing ahead with investigations into possible impeachment proceedings against Joe Biden. They accuse the Democratic president of abusing his public office for the financial benefit of his family. However, they have not yet provided clear evidence of serious misconduct. It is questionable whether the investigation could actually result in impeachment proceedings. Joe Biden wants to run for a second term in the US election in November.

Biden’s son caused outrage last week with a surprise appearance at a public meeting of the control committee. He showed up without notice during opening statements at a public meeting of the panel and took a seat in the front row with his lawyer. Several Republicans felt provoked by Hunter Biden’s appearance, and two MPs called him a coward. The committee chairman had difficulty restoring order to the meeting at times.
