Tyson Fury retains WBC world title by referee stoppage

The gypsy king remains the king. In total control thanks to his reach, Tyson Fury put an end to his fight against Dillian Whyte with a terrible uppercut which sent him to the ground. The referee was quick to declare the end of the fight against a Whyte who was struggling to regain his senses and his balance.

Intelligent, Fury was not flamboyant, but he controlled the fight from the first minutes. Whyte never found the solution or succeeded in breaking the distance imposed by Fury, until this uppercut came from elsewhere in the sixth round.

A lightning fast uppercut

Until then, the 94,000 spectators who had made the trip to Wembley remained a little unsatisfied. Blame it on Fury’s perfect fight management which highlighted Whyte’s shortcomings. The latter had started the fight left-handed, but that did not disturb his opponent. He tried, but he could never break Fury’s guard or get close enough to deliver the hurting blow.

The champion, he did not try to do too much. He managed, until the final opening. An uppercut gone at lightning speed without perfectly touching the tip of Whyte’s chin. But Fury is 120 kilos and Whyte was starting to catch his breath. It was too much.
