Two men of Turkish nationality who entered France with false Bulgarian papers were killed on Sunday in a lodge in the small town of Châtonnay.

This Sunday, August 6 at 3:10 p.m., two bodies riddled with bullets were discovered by the gendarmerie in an Airbnb accommodation located in the town of Châtonnay (2100 inhabitants) in Isère. The police had been notified by a witness who had been contacted by a 27-year-old man present at the scene in the midst of the facts.

According to the first elements of the investigation, the two victims and the 27-year-old man, are of Turkish nationality, would have entered France with false Bulgarian papers and recovered their rental on Friday August 4. For the moment the exact identity of the two people killed has not yet been established. The mayor of the town, Jean-Michel Nogueras, was unable to specify whether the victims were holidaymakers: “the owners of the cottage were not there, they are very shocked“, he explained.

Sent to the crime scene, a medical examiner established the existence of several bullet wounds on the victims. A handgun was also found under one of the bodies. An autopsy is to take place mid-week. The investigation for assassination was entrusted to the research section of Grenoble, co-seized with the brigade of Vienna. The 27-year-old man is currently being heard in police custody.
