Something new in the case of the Parisian pounds. Two new police officers were indicted on Friday in Paris with a ban on practicing as part of an investigation into suspicions of corruption in the middle of Parisian pounds, we learned Monday from a judicial source.
The two police officers, placed in custody last Wednesday, were presented Friday to the magistrate in charge of this judicial investigation.
Passive corruption and illegal taking of interest
One was indicted on counts of passive corruption, illegal taking of interest and forgery in public writing by a person holding public authority, as well as for misappropriation of the purpose of a data processing system staff and violation of professional secrecy, detailed the judicial source.
The other was indicted on the charge of illegal taking of interest by a person holding public authority, she added. They were placed under judicial control with in particular the prohibition to practice.
Benefits in exchange for services
According to Le Parisien, who had revealed their police custody, it is a major and a brigadier stationed at the 16th arrondissement police station at the time of the events.
In this judicial investigation opened at the end of October after a preliminary investigation, at least four other people, including two police officers, were already indicted. These two chief sergeants are suspected of having obtained advantages in exchange for services permitted by their position. Also implicated are the boss of the impounding company Inter Dépannage, Chafic Alywan, and a former official of the prefecture of the Paris region.
