Two men arrested for firing automatic weapons

It took investigators two months to get their hands on them. On Tuesday, three men and a woman were arrested in Seine-et-Marne as part of investigations linked to shootings that occurred on March 14, 2024 on the A84 motorway between Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine) and Caen (Calvados). Three men were targeted by automatic weapons fire while they were driving in a car near the interchange near Coglès, in a probable settling of scores against a backdrop of drug trafficking.

The three accused were arrested in Meaux and Villenoy and a fourth was taken from Rennes prison where he was detained in connection with another case, said prosecutor Philippe Astruc, confirming information from West France.

A turf war

Two of the four suspects were presented to an investigating judge. The first is being prosecuted for criminal conspiracy, intentional violence with three aggravating circumstances (weapon, assembly and premeditation), and intentional violence with use of a weapon which did not result in an ITT, according to the prosecution. The second is being prosecuted “for the offense of participation in a criminal association”.

According to a source close to the case, the pursuit between the two cars started from Rennes and the two injured came from the Blosne district in Rennes where “a war to conquer deal points” was then being played out and where, on the night of March 9 to 10, a shooting left two injured, one seriously.
