two men arrested after the robbery of a jewelry store in Place Vendôme

New robbery at Place Vendôme. This time, it was the Bulgari jewelry store that was targeted this Tuesday around noon by “a large team of criminals”, according to a police source. At least three men fled in a car and two others in two scooters. They were chased by a police crew, alerted a few minutes earlier. The vehicle, a gray BMW, was found abandoned in the 4th arrondissement of Paris, rue du Cloître-Saint-Merri.

A police official opened fire on one of the suspects, injuring his leg. The latter was arrested, just like another man who had taken refuge in a parking lot at the Forum des Halles. Contacted by 20 minutes, the Paris prosecutor’s office indicates that it has opened an investigation into the heads of theft with a weapon and in an organized gang and of criminal associations. The investigations were entrusted to the BRB (brigade for the repression of banditry). The damage is currently being assessed.

Other heists this summer

The summer has already been marked by two major robberies of jewelry stores in Paris. On July 27, a man on a scooter had taken over a booty valued at 2 million euros in the Chaumet brand. He was arrested the next day with his accomplice and most of the damage found. Three days later, two men, armed with an electric pulse pistol and a tear gas canister, stole 400,000 euros worth of jewelry from a Dinh Van store.
