The investigation is continuing in Toulouse in the case of health pass fraud. Friday evening, the two main defendants were indicted, we learned from the prosecution. Aged 19, they are suspected of having organized trafficking in “true-false” health passes from a vaccination center located in Muret, near Toulouse, in particular for the benefit of professionals in the medical sector subject to compulsory vaccination.
The prosecution had requested a placement in pre-trial detention, but they were finally left free under judicial control, said the public prosecutor of Toulouse, Samuel Vuelta Simon.
False passes sold between 100 and 380 euros
In addition to these two protagonists, 14 health professionals were heard by investigators from the Muret gendarmerie research brigade and will be the subject of further prosecution by the Toulouse public prosecutor’s office. “Particular attention will be given to those who have bypassed the vaccine obligation because of their employment in the health sector,” said the public prosecutor in a press release.
These professionals work “in establishments in the Occitanie region” and are nursing assistants, nursing home employees, physiotherapist, pharmacy preparer, business managers specializing in Covid disinfection, or even security personnel in hospitals, further specifies Mr. Vuelta Simon.
The investigation made it possible to establish that at least 140 people benefited from these fake passes sold between 100 and 380 to people around the organizers of the fraud, or marketed via the Snapchat network. It is the staff of the vaccination center of Muret, about twenty kilometers south of Toulouse, who noting “recording anomalies relating to vaccinated patients” was able to denounce the fraud.
