Two indicted after a fire that destroyed 1,000 hectares in Cerbère

Two men were indicted on Thursday, four months after the violent fire which had ravaged around 1,000 hectares of vegetation, in April, in Cerbère (Pyrénées-Orientales), indicate the gendarmes of the department, on their Facebook page. The two suspects were arrested after a thorough investigation by the Céret research brigade. These men are prosecuted for having, “by deliberate breach of a security obligation, committed involuntary destruction” of the vegetation.

On April 16, a violent fire broke out in Cerbère, near the Spanish border, mobilizing several hundred firefighters. The progression of the flames threatening houses, residents had to be evacuated by the soldiers of the fire.
