The Amiens court has decided. Two men were sentenced to 12 and 15 months in prison on Monday, June 5, following the attack on Jean-Baptiste Trogneux, the great-nephew of Brigitte Macron, on the sidelines of a demonstration against pension reform . A third man was released.

In detail, the main suspect was sentenced to 30 months in prison, 15 of which are firm, reports France Blue. A second defendant was sentenced to two years in prison, one of which is closed. Sentences less severe than those required by the prosecutor, who had requested four years in prison, including six months suspended for the main respondent, 36 months, including six months suspended for the second, and two years, including six months suspended for the last.

These three men, aged 19, 22 and 35, have marginal profiles, “disqualified”, pleaded during the hearing one of their lawyers, Marc Blondet, quoted by France Bleu. All have already been convicted several times, the main suspect is homeless and under curatorship. The other two cannot read or write very well. “These are young people who have a chaotic journey, difficulties in particular of a psychological order”added Marc Blondet during the hearing.
