Twenty-five departments placed in orange vigilance for thunderstorm risks

In a still very hot and increasingly heavy atmosphere, threatening clouds carrying some showers and thunderclaps will fly over Brittany and the Atlantic coast from the morning, according to Météo-France which has placed 25 departments on orange vigilance. In the afternoon and evening, this chaotic weather will extend to Normandy, to the whole of the Pays-de-la-Loire region, New Aquitaine to the borders of Haute-Garonne.

The showers will become more frequent and will be mixed with locally strong thunderstorms accompanied in places by hail and good gusts of wind to 60/80 km / h. Twenty-five departments (Calvados, Manche, Orne, Eure-et-Loir, Sarthe, Mayenne, Ille-et-Vilaine, Côtes-d’Armor, Maine-et-Loire, Indre-et-Loire, Loiret, Loir-et -Cher, Cher, Deux-Sèvres, Vienne, Indre, Creuse, Haute-Vienne, Charente, Charente-Maritime, Dordogne, Gironde, Lot-et-Garonne, Landes, Pyrénées-Atlantiques) have been placed on orange vigilance due to risk of thunderstorms, accompanied by hail and strong gusts of wind, expected from 3 p.m.

Lower temperatures on the Gulf of Lion

Ahead and on the sidelines of this instability, Hauts-de-France, Île de France and Center-Val-de-Loire going down to Roussillon, clouds will arrive in the afternoon, and will produce some showers. Around the Gulf of Lion, the sea wind will bring greyness at the start of the day, but it will also allow a significant drop in temperatures. On the wind side, a moderate autan will set in, in its area.

As for the Alpine massif, from the southern Alps to the Var hinterland and on the Isle of Beauty, stormy showers will spoil the second part of the day. Elsewhere, from morning to night, it will be a slightly cloudy sky, in overwhelming heat. Indeed, this day will be the hottest of the episode nationwide. During the night from Wednesday to Thursday, violent thunderstorms will be expected from northern Aquitaine, Limousin to Center-Val-de-Loire at the gates of the Paris basin. Hail and gusts of wind will accompany the most intense thunderstorms.
