Because Sebastian Pufpaff failed with Corona, someone else took over the moderation of “TV Total” on Wednesday evening: Elton, former show intern and Stefan Raab’s sidekick for years. An emotional moment for him.

When it became known during the course of Tuesday that “TV Total” presenter Sebastian Pufpaff was suffering from Corona, the rumor mill quickly simmered.

Elton takes over “TV Total”

There was only one replacement for many die-hard fans of the cult show: Stefan Raab. But ProSieben quickly denied it. “Stefan Raab can’t take over #TVtotal tomorrow. He always has a manicure on Wednesdays,” wrote the broadcaster. Instead, they sent the former show intern and Raab’s sidekick Elton into the race.

After the show ended, the 50-year-old expressed himself deeply emotionally on his Instagram account. “After almost exactly 21 years, after my very first appearance on ‘TV total’, I was allowed to moderate the cult show myself. I had long thought about whether I would dare to do it, but I had to at least try,” he explained there. “You could tell from the pulse and some reactions how nervous I was,” explained Elton, who received active support from moderator Kai Pflaume during the show. Pflaume led through the legendary game “Blamieren oder Kassen”, which was taken over by Elton under Raab’s time.

Heart rate monitor shows nervousness

“Thanks to the viewers in the studio. You made it a little easier for me and I had tears in my eyes. Next week (hopefully) with a / the right moderator,” he finished his statement. How nervous Elton was was vividly demonstrated during the show. The substitute moderator wore a heart rate monitor, the result of which was displayed to the viewers at the beginning: 146 beats per minute – the pulse was racing.

Opinions about Elton’s commitment were divided on Twitter. “I’ll tell it like it is: This was the best episode of #TVTotal in a long time, like Elton more often,” wrote one user. “It’s Elton! And hey presto the rate goes down again,” commented one another. What most agreed, however: Elton provided a good portion of nostalgia on “TV Total” on Wednesday evening.
