One should always go when it is most beautiful. Verena Altenberger obviously took it seriously. Her departure was a ratings hit.

The farewell of Verena Altenberger from the “Polizeiruf 110” has achieved a higher rating than any other case of this Sunday thriller in the past ten years. This was announced by Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) on Monday in Munich.

The “Paranoia” case – with the last appearance of Altenberger (35) in the role of investigator Elisabeth “Bessie” Eyckhoff – saw 29.8 percent of the audience on Sunday evening from 8:15 p.m. on the first. That’s the best “police call” market share in at least a decade. In terms of viewership, the Munich episode stayed in the middle with 7.25 million. Rostock cases were regularly over eight million.

“In Bavaria, “Paranoia” was even able to achieve an outstanding market share of 30.7 percent,” said BR, explaining the results of the ratings measurement. “Crime stories were also in the lead with a 19.2 percent market share among the younger audience of 14 to 49 year olds in Germany.”

At the same time, ZDF showed the holiday series “Das Traumschiff: Colombia” on Sunday, attracting 3.47 million (14.3 percent) viewers. ProSieben also did quite well. The comic adaptation “Avengers: Endgame” with Robert Downey Jr., Chris Pratt and Scarlett Johansson ran there – 1.60 million (8.0 percent) watched.

On Sat.1, the US romantic comedy “Die Schadenfreundinnen” with Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton reached 1.07 million (4.6 percent). The US melodrama “Three Steps to You” with Haley Lu Richardson and Cole Sprouse on RTL attracted 790,000 (3.4 percent) people to the house. The Vox docu-soap “Hot oder Schrott – Promi Spezial” interested 650,000 people (3.1 percent).

The Kabel-eins ranking show “Germany’s biggest secrets” found 650,000 fans (2.8 percent). RTLzwei had the crook comedy “Catch Me If You Can” with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks on offer – 620,000 viewers (2.8 percent) wanted to see it.
