Tolerance and empathy, curiosity and cosmopolitanism – values that seem more important than ever these days. This requires role models. Role models like Senta Berger. The Austrian-German actress will be awarded the Tolerance Prize of the Evangelical Academy on Sunday, November 5th in Tutzing.
“Your openness to the world and other cultures is the key to meeting strangers with tolerance and understanding, charm and humor,” it says. The Academy honors the 82-year-old “as a character actress for her life’s work as a credible personality – in the film as well as in reality.”
Berger was awarded the prize in 2020, but could not be awarded due to the pandemic. The ceremony will now take place on November 5th at 11 a.m. in Tutzing, with actor Gerd Anthoff giving the laudatory speech.
Since 2000, the Tolerance Prize has honored personalities every two years who promote understanding between people, nations, religions and cultures. Christian Stückl, director of the Oberammergau Passion Play, most recently received the award in March 2022 in the younger “Civil Courage” category.
