Thomas Hofmann is sure of his point: According to its president, the Technical University of Munich (TUM) will become even more attractive for those interested after the introduction of tuition fees for people from non-EU countries – because the money can be used to create better study conditions. “In many regions of the world, studying is seen as an investment in life, the costs of which you contribute to,” explains Hofmann, “and what costs nothing is considered worth nothing.”
