It is not known and will probably never be known whether Pep Guardiola was already thinking of Manchester City in December 2012. The historiography shows that Guardiola was in a loft in New York sparked by Uli Hoeneß, who was flown in specially, for FC Bayern, with whom he then promised himself for three years. After his contract in Munich expired, Guardiola had by no means lost the dressing room, like so many Bayern coaches before him, it was rather the other way around. The Bayern cabin would have liked to keep this coach but lost him to Manchester City. Guardiola never really explained why he left Munich. Maybe because it was already clear, because Germany and the Bundesliga were only intended as a stage right from the start?
