Trump – First wife dies – Economy

Following the death of Ivana Trump, the former US President’s first wife, on Thursday, a testimony planned by Donald Trump and their two children, Donald Junior and Ivanka, has been postponed. A corresponding request from the family had been granted, confirmed the office of the New York Attorney General Letitia James at the request of the dpa news agency. A new date should be found as soon as possible. In the course of investigations into their companies’ financial transactions, Donald Trump and his children Don Junior and Ivanka were supposed to answer questions from the New York Attorney General’s Office about business practices of the Trump Organization for several days starting Friday.

The family’s lawyers had tried to take action against this decision and to stop the investigation – so far unsuccessfully. James’ extensive civil investigations include suspicions that Trump’s company misrepresented the value of its real estate in order to obtain credit or price advantages. Trump has previously described the investigation as a “witch hunt” and accused Democrat James of being politically motivated. Ivana Trump, who was married to Donald Trump between 1977 and 1992 and had son Eric with him alongside Ivanka and Donald Junior, died on Thursday at the age of 73. The background to the death was initially unclear. Dozens of onlookers and journalists gathered on Friday in front of the house on the posh Upper East Side in Manhattan, where Ivana Trump had lived until the end. There was a bouquet of pink flowers in front of the front door.
