Troyes ousts its president Aymeric Magne, sentenced on appeal for domestic violence

The Troyes football club has just separated this Friday from its executive president Aymeric Magne, who had been in office since May 2021. “Following a meeting of the board of directors today, ESTAC can confirm that the Mr. Aymeric Magne’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect”, indicates ESTAC on his Twitter account. A decision which comes two days after a conviction on appeal for domestic violence concerning Aymeric Magne.

The Reims Court of Appeal confirmed on Wednesday, according to France 3 Grand Est, the first instance conviction in March of Aymeric Magne to three months in prison suspended and a fine of 1,500 euros. “Obviously it has an impact” on the termination of his contract, said a source familiar with the matter this Friday.

Dutchman Mattijs Manders at the controls

The board of directors of ESTAC formalized in the process, this Friday, the appointment of Mattijs Manders as General Manager of the club. “Manders has held a similar position for City Football Group in China for the past five months,” said the statement from the club relegated to Ligue 2 in the spring.

Mattijs Manders was also Managing Director of two Dutch professional football clubs, NAC Breda and Alles Door Oefening Den Haag. And this before leading the Eredivisie, the Dutch D1, as General Manager there too. There is no doubt that this news will cause serious turmoil within the Trojan club, six days after the resumption of the championship.
