Did Oscar nominee Troy Kotsur get in trouble with a plane crew? A spokeswoman now explained: It was all “a misunderstanding”.

The deaf actor Troy Kotsur (53) is said to have caused a stir on an airplane. Allegedly, the movie star was forced to fly without a sign language interpreter. According to “The Sun” the 53-year-old should, who could win an Oscar on March 27, accidentally damaged another passenger on the plane while communicating with his wife Deanne Bray (50), who is also deaf. Leftovers and cutlery were flying around, the paper writes, citing another passenger.

According to the newspaper, an insider explained that the actor had no bad intentions. He was “stressed” because he missed an earlier plane that his interpreter was on. The alleged incident in February on the way from London to Los Angeles was just a “misunderstanding” and “accident”. A spokeswoman for Troy Kotsur also told The Sun: “It was a big misunderstanding. As soon as someone was able to interpret via FaceTime, everyone shook hands and left it at that.”

Will he write Oscar history?

Troy Kotsur is best known for the film “Coda” by Siân Heder (44). He plays the role of the protagonist’s deaf father, played by Emilia Jones (20). Kotsur has already won the British Academy Film Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Critics’ Choice Award for this role.

He’s also been nominated for an Oscar for best supporting actor – no deaf man of his gender has ever been able to do that before him. His “Coda” colleague Marlee Matlin (56) was the first deaf woman to win the award in 1987 for her role in “God’s Forgotten Children”. “What a day! I still remember watching Marlee win her Oscar on TV and telling friends I would be nominated one day and they were skeptical,” Kotsur said in a statement his nomination.
