Almost a year after the end of the Starnberg triple murder trial, the verdict against co-defendant Samuel V. is also final. After 80 days of trial on March 6 last year, the youth chamber at the Munich II Regional Court sentenced V. to a youth sentence of eight and a half years for, among other things, murder as an accomplice. The court imposed 13 years in prison on his accomplice, the main defendant Maximilian B., who shot his friend and his parents in their Starnberg house in the morning hours of January 20, 2020. While Maximilian B. accepted the verdict, Samuel V.’s defense lawyers filed an appeal before the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) in Karlsruhe. However, without success, as the press office at the Munich Higher Regional Court announced on Tuesday.
According to the judges of the 1st Youth Chamber at the Munich II Regional Court, Samuel V. did not just drive his friend Maximilian B. to the family property in Starnberg in his car on the night of January 11, 2020. The now 22-year-old also knew that B. would at least kill his son in order to get his weapons collection – which included numerous banned weapons of war.
According to the ruling, Samuel V. and Maximilian B. wanted to offer the weapons collection on the Darknet and receive several hundred thousand euros for it. They wanted to invest the money in cryptocurrencies and stocks. Maximilian B. initially planned to just shoot his friend. Since his parents were also present that night, they too had to die.
The court cited the financial difficulties in which both defendants found themselves and the desire to lead a “cool gangster life” as the motive for the crime in Starnberg and for two attacks on supermarkets in the Fürstenfeldbruck district. Samuel V., the chairwoman of the 1st Youth Chamber, Judge Regina Holstein, attested to “grandman addiction” when the verdict was announced. After his arrest, the 22-year-old replied to a psychiatric expert who asked him how he envisioned his future, saying his career goal was to be a “mafia boss.”
