Triggering of the White Plan in all healthcare establishments

The Regional Health Agency (ARS) and the Prefecture of Nouvelle-Aquitaine announced on Tuesday the triggering of the White Plan “in all health establishments” in the region. The health situation linked to Covid exposes “the hospital system to saturation risks. New Aquitaine is the fourth region in mainland France to apply this measure after Corsica, Paca and Occitanie.

For these health establishments, public and private, this involves “deprogramming to deploy additional capacities for the care of Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 patients in medicine and intensive care, by mobilizing additional human resources (…) thanks to strong inter-establishment and interdepartmental solidarity. “

Deprogramming will be subject to “a collegial decision by the medical community and a regular reassessment of the patient to avoid any loss of luck.” “These deprogramming will be carried out” while ensuring that patients treated for cancer, people awaiting transplants, patients followed for a chronic disease or in pediatrics and requiring urgent care are taken care of in the best possible conditions. “

Indicators remain at a high level

Why trigger this white plan, when the incidence rate in the region seems to stabilize for several days? Quite simply because, as the director general of the ARS explained to 20 minutes a few days ago, the impact of incidence rates is still measured two to three weeks later in hospitals, and by mid-July they were at their highest. The peak in hospitals is thus expected from this week.

And it should last until the incidence rate drops sharply. Currently, “the indicators in our region are still high, recalls the ARS: for the period from August 1 to 7, the incidence rate is 198.9 / 100,000 inhabitants, well above the alert threshold of 50 / 100,000 inhabitants. The most affected departments remain those of the coast (Gironde: 284.8; Pyrénées-Atlantiques: 280.8; Landes: 220.4; Charente-Maritime: 213.9). “

As of August 9, 595 patients are hospitalized for Covid-19 in the region, including 122 in critical care services (i.e. in one week + 107 hospitalized patients and + 45 patients treated in critical care services).
