Trick fraud in Munich: 80-year-old defrauded of 50,000 euros – arrest – Munich

Thanks to an attentive bank employee, an 80-year-old Munich woman’s fraud of tens of thousands of euros was uncovered on Thursday. According to the police report, at around 2:30 p.m. the older woman wanted to have 5,000 euros withdrawn from her account at a bank branch on Nymphenburger Strasse. However, the bank employee noticed that the customer had repeatedly withdrawn several thousand euros in the past few weeks. She called the police.

The 80-year-old said she wanted to financially support a pregnant woman because the child’s father was in hospital in Serbia. Two civilian police officers located a 26-year-old pregnant woman on Nymphenburger Strasse who was already known to the police for similar offenses. They also found a gold coin and jewelry that had belonged to the 80-year-old woman.

A 23-year-old man was identified as the second suspect. Both were charged with commercial fraud. Over a period of several weeks, the elderly woman suffered financial losses of around 50,000 euros, according to the police.
