Daughter stalked, mother shot – long prison sentence

A 24-year-old has been sentenced to eleven and a half years in prison for attempted murder in two cases and, among other things, dangerous bodily harm.
In the trial about the almost fatal shooting of a 53-year-old woman in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg, the Hamburg Regional Court sentenced the accused to eleven and a half years in prison.
The 24-year-old was guilty of two counts of attempted murder, dangerous bodily harm and other criminal offenses, said the chair of the Criminal Court, Birgit Woitas.
According to the court, the accused shot the woman and her then 13-year-old son on March 11, 2021 – in front of the family home. The motive for the crime was the man’s irritation at the 53-year-old’s daughter. The high school graduate rejected his advances. He didn’t accept that and stalked her for over a year, the judge said.
Surprised mother and son on the doorstep
In early 2021, the defendant sent threats and penis photos to an uninvolved woman via Instagram, mistaking her for his daughter. Since he assumed that his mother in the neighborhood would slander him as a rapist, he got angry. On the day of the crime, he surprised the woman and her son in front of the front door, yelled at them and suddenly shot them both. The uninjured son pulled the mother into the house and closed the door. The 53-year-old was seriously injured in the head and was in potential danger to life, as the judge said.
Prosecutors had asked for a life sentence. The co-plaintiff had also requested that the particular severity of the guilt be determined. The defense advocated a maximum sentence of five years in prison. The verdict is not yet legally binding.
