A man from the Forchheim district is said to have killed his own son. The 51-year-old must therefore answer before the Bamberg district court from Monday (9:00 a.m.). The charge is murder.
Last March, the crime rocked the region. According to the investigators’ findings, the nine-year-old was killed while he was spending the weekend with his father in a small town in the Forchheim district. The parents lived separately, usually the boy lived with his mother.
She rang the doorbell on Sunday evening to pick up her son again. But her ex-partner met her with a kitchen knife in hand. She called the police because she feared for her son – and the officers found the dead boy in the apartment a little later. He must have been violently killed hours earlier. The kitchen knife, however, is not considered a murder weapon.
No information has yet been given on a possible motive, but this may come to light in the upcoming process. Seven days of negotiations are scheduled. A verdict could be pronounced on November 10th.
After the death of the child, there was great horror in the region: a few days after the crime, there was a funeral service in a neighboring town, numerous candles were lit and flowers were laid.
