Trezor to produce hardware wallets chips in-house to reduce product delivery delays

Hardware Wallets maker Trezor is accelerating production of the new Trezor wallet by producing its own wallet chips.

Trezor officially announced on Feb. 27 that it will begin manufacturing its core component, the chip wrapper, in its flagship product, the Trezor Model T.

This aims to significantly increase the productivity of Trezor wallets. This will shorten the supply cycle from two years to just a few months.

This will improve efficiency. And it reduces delays in delivery of finished products and protects consumers from price fluctuations based on component supply and demand.

Earlier, demand for Trezor wallets rose at least 300% following the FTX meltdown in November 2022 as crypto investors sought to move their crypto holdings from centralized crypto exchanges.

Trezor has always faced supply loopholes from third parties due to factors such as political disruptions, labor shortages due to COVID-19, crypto market conditions, and other events. But by controlling the supply of the chip, Trezor can respond quickly to all these factors and meet demand at all times.
