After the mass panic at his concert at the Astroworld Festival, Travis Scott offered to pay for the funeral of a nine-year-old man who died. The family refuses, however.

Ten people died as a result of the mass panic at a concert by rapper Travis Scott at the Astroworld Festival in early November. Eight of them died at the Houston Music Festival immediately during or shortly after the disaster. Two others later died from their injuries. Hundreds of people were also injured in the crowd.

The youngest victim of the mass panic was nine-year-old Ezra Blount. He was seriously injured when he was trampled by the crowd and had to be put into an artificial coma. A few days later he died. Through his lawyers, Scott wrote a letter to the family who offered to pay for the boy’s funeral, USA Today reports. However, the family declined the offer on the same day.

$ 750 million lawsuit against Travis Scott and others involved

“The loss of a child is like a tap that cannot be turned off,” the US portal quoted from the response of the family lawyer. “I have no doubt that Mr. Scott feels remorse. His further path will be painful. He must face himself and hopefully see that he bears some responsibility for this tragedy.”

Ezra Blount and his father had attended the concert together, but lost themselves in the crowd. “The crowd began to huddle in front of the stage, which caused panic and injuries,” said Houston’s fire department chief Samuel Peña, describing the accident at a press conference. The families of the victims and their representatives hold the organizers responsible for security deficiencies at the event. They also accuse Travis Scott of inciting his fans to behave aggressively.

125 people who were injured in the accident, as well as relatives of one of the fatalities, have filed a class action lawsuit against Scott, the rapper Drake, who was on stage with him, the organizers Apple and Live Nation and others responsible for the Astroworld festival. According to the “TMZ” portal, it will cost 750 million US dollars, the equivalent of around 660 million euros.
