Traunstein: Closed barriers ignored – car collides with train – Bavaria

Despite the barriers being closed, a woman drove her car onto the railway tracks in Traunstein and collided with a regional train. The driver then drove away from the scene of the accident, police said on Sunday.

The woman had ignored a red light on Sunday morning and bypassed the half-barriers to pass the railway crossing. Despite emergency braking by the 50-year-old train driver, the train crashed into the car. According to police, no one was injured. The railway line remained completely closed for almost an hour and a half.

The unknown driver is now being investigated for dangerous interference with rail traffic and unauthorized removal from the scene of the accident. The police asked witnesses for information. According to the information, three subsequent trains were delayed due to the closure of the railway line.
