An aircraft bomb from the Second World War was discovered during construction work in Traunstein on Thursday. The police cordoned off the area at noon, around 200 residents within a radius of 100 meters around the site had to leave their homes.
Shortly before 5 p.m., the city administration gave the all-clear: “The dud that was found in Chiemseestrasse has been defused. The residents can go back to their apartments and houses.” Around 300 emergency services from the fire brigade, police, rescue and emergency services and authorities were deployed after the US aerial bomb was found. The Traunstein – Traunreut railway line was also temporarily closed.
