Trauma Mountain: Experiences on a performance through the Olympic Park – Munich

The English language knows no umlauts. When Jody Oberfelder, the New York choreographer, says “Mountain of Rubble,” it’s like adding a couple of lead weights to this already heavy word. “Trauma Mountain” is heard, which is entirely their intention. Because the participants in their walking piece “Walking to Present” have the past in their luggage on the way through the Olympic Park up to the vantage point. There’s a collective history with a Nazi airport, World War II rubble and the Olympic assassination – and then there’s one’s own experiences in this place, which are probably quite joyful, mostly. On this tour, the participants will somehow tie it all together. Will remap the space so familiar for themselves.
