1. FC Union wants to hit the transfer market and get a star. But the coup collapses at the last minute.

The commitment of the former real star Isco by the Bundesliga soccer club 1. FC Union Berlin failed shortly before the end.

“We would have liked to have seen Isco with us, but we have our limits. These were exceeded today, contrary to the previous agreement, so the transfer will not take place,” said Union managing director Oliver Ruhnert, according to a club statement.

Isco’s consulting agency Gestifute, on the other hand, saw the problem at Union and told “Bild”: “In the course of the talks, we had to realize that our negotiating partner was no longer willing to move within the framework originally discussed.”

The impending change from the five-time Champions League winner to second in the Bundesliga had previously caused a stir. The midfielder, who is currently without a club, arrived in Berlin for a medical check-up on Tuesday morning. According to media reports, he should get a contract until the end of June 2024 with an option for another year. The club did not officially comment on the speculation.
