Train traffic in Northern Germany: Disturbance fixed according to Bahn – traffic starts

Status: 08.10.2022 10:48 a.m

After the temporary standstill in long-distance traffic in northern Germany, the railway has resumed traffic. The problem has been fixed, it said. Nevertheless, there are still impairments.

According to its own statements, Deutsche Bahn has corrected the technical fault in the train radio. However, the company announced on Twitter that there would still be impairments and stop and train cancellations until around eleven o’clock. Previously, long-distance traffic had come to a complete standstill in northern Germany.

Regional traffic is also affected

Countless travelers were previously stranded at the train stations because all long-distance traffic and some regional traffic were stopped in large parts of northern Germany. Bremen, Hamburg, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein were affected, as Deutsche Bahn wrote on Twitter.

According to the railways, the reason for the chaos was a technical fault in the train radio. What exactly led to this remained open for the time being. The company recommended travelers to get information shortly before planned trips via www.bahn.de/reiseauskunft, via the “DB Navigator” app or by calling 030/2970.

Autumn holidays in northern Germany

The disruption in rail traffic should also be relevant for many air travelers. Because in Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania the autumn holidays start today.
