Train journey through the Swiss Alps: On the way on the Glacier Express

Like a cinema on wheels: Katharina Brenner-Meyer enjoys the ups and downs on the train between St. Moritz and Zermatt.

The route is the goal. A saying as flat as Northern Germany behind the dike. But this time it fits. 291 kilometers by train, through 91 tunnels, over 291 bridges, up to 2033 meters. A ride on the Glacier Express from St. Moritz to Zermatt. The landscape is anything but flat. A birthday present for mother on her 60th. An internationally popular one, it seems. Two women from California are sitting next to us, “a birthday present,” says the daughter while chatting shortly before Bergün. And often “awesome”.
