Train from Munich crashes into a fallen tree near Prague – Munich

A Eurocity train coming from Munich crashed into a fallen tree in the Czech Republic. Passengers were not injured, said the state railway Ceske Drahy (CD) on Monday evening. The accident happened near Karlštejn Castle, about 30 kilometers southwest of the Czech capital Prague. The route runs there in difficult-to-access terrain between a steep slope and the Berounka River. Like the newspaper Pravo reported online, firefighters took the train’s passengers on foot across the tracks to the nearest train station.

The Eurocity 361, which left Munich in the afternoon as Alex RE 25 with the destination Prague, was affected. Rail traffic on the section could be resumed in the course of the evening.

An incident had already occurred not far from the scene of the accident at the end of June last year after heavy rain. At that time, a train crashed into a rock that had slipped off, five people were slightly injured.
