Traffic will still be heavy this weekend on the main roads, with a Saturday classified red throughout the territory in the direction of departures and orange in the direction of return,
according to Bison Futé.
The traffic is classified orange on Friday throughout France, and red on Saturday. Traffic will be a little smoother on Sunday, classified as green nationally and orange in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and along the Mediterranean.
More and more holidaymakers
“Traffic will be heavy on most major routes heading south and coastal regions,” predicts Bison Futé in a statement released Tuesday. For this second weekend of the summer holidays, “holidaymakers from Northern Europe will be more and more likely to travel to France, during the school holidays in their own country,” he adds. . The first return from vacation will also complicate traffic on Saturdays, classified orange in the direction of returns.
The rest of the weekend is classified green in that sense. Significant traffic difficulties are expected around the route of the stages of the Tour de France, as well as to access the departure and arrival cities, also warns Bison Futé. The 20th stage of the Tour de France will link Mourenx, near Pau, to Libourne, north-east of Bordeaux, on Friday, before a time trial on Saturday in the middle of the Saint-Emilion vineyards. The final stage will take place on Sunday in the Paris region.
