The passengers of a derailed S-Bahn in Munich escaped with horror. But the incident on the busy route was by no means without consequences.

One The S-Bahn derailed at a train station in Munich on Thursday night. No one was injured, but there was significant damage and restrictions on S-Bahn traffic, a federal police spokesman said.

For reasons that are still unclear, the bogie of the S-Bahn derailed at a switch in a tunnel on the main line. The track bed, the substructure and the S-Bahn were damaged. According to information, the occupants were brought to the platform by the fire department. 15 passengers were on the train at the time of the accident.

The busy railway line, which is important for the state capital, was closed – it is still unclear for how long. A railway spokesman said that the train’s bogie had to be put back on the rails first. The federal police have started investigations into a dangerous interference with rail traffic.
