According to information from the government alliance, the traffic light coalition of SPD, Greens and FDP under Chancellor Olaf Scholz has agreed on a third relief package. Federal Minister of Justice Marco Buschmann pointed this out via Twitter in the morning, with the words: “Very good result.” The government wants to present details in a press conference at 11 a.m.
From Saturday noon onwards, the leaders of the SPD, Greens and FDP had been discussing a comprehensive package intended to relieve the burden on citizens in the crisis surrounding Russian gas and rising prices in the wake of the Ukraine war. The talks lasted into Sunday night. However, the results were not announced afterwards. Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) wants to do this in the morning, as the Chancellery said on Sunday night during the ongoing negotiations between the leaders of the SPD, Greens and FDP.
The summit meeting was preceded by weeks of discussions. In addition to Scholz, Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck (Greens) and Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) took part in the negotiations. Other ministers and the leaders of the three parliamentary groups and parties were also gathered in the Chancellery.
