Attention road users: Police stations nationwide have announced checks throughout the day. What is a particular focus?

Danger, Police check! Today, police officers are increasingly checking cars and cyclists all over Germany – as part of the nationwide day of action for the “sicher.mobil.leben” campaign on road safety.

This year, the focus of the campaign is “Respect in Focus” to promote mutual consideration and a change of perspective in road traffic. The motto was developed under the leadership of the state of Berlin, which will chair the Conference of Interior Ministers in 2023.

“We all travel in traffic every day. And we share the same space. We all want to arrive at our destination safely,” Iris Spranger, Berlin’s Senator for the Interior and Sport, is quoted as saying in the announcement of the day of action.

Mutual consideration and a change of perspective among road users in road traffic “not only contribute to safe coexistence on the road, but can prevent accidents.” Spranger advocates for a “more careful and considerate approach to one another” and for “thinking for others – including others.”

Police stations nationwide announced traffic controls throughout the day – some with a focus on cyclists, Pedelec and e-scooter riders or in areas of bicycle protection lanes.
