Gamescom is the world’s largest industry gathering for computer and video games. Now the trade fair is to take place for the first time in the metropolis of São Paulo.

The world’s largest computer game and video game trade fair Gamescom will also take place in Brazil for the first time next year. The South American country will be the third venue for this trade fair, alongside its home location in Cologne and an offshoot in Singapore, announced Koelnmesse as the organizer. This is scheduled to take place from June 26th to 30th, 2024 in the metropolis of São Paulo.

Gamescom is the world’s largest industry gathering for computer games and video games. In August of this year, 1,227 exhibitors from 63 countries presented themselves to fans and potential business partners in Cologne. Around 320,000 visitors came to the five-day event – the previous high was reached in 2019 with 373,000. The exhibitors included providers such as Nintendo, Xbox, Tencent and Ubisoft as well as the streaming services Netflix, Amazon Prime and Crunchyroll.

The games industry has been growing for years, but German developers only play a minor role. The industry is said to have great potential in times of digitalization, especially since its developments could also provide impetus in other economic areas, for example with artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual realities (VR).
