“Trace – Formations of Likeness” in the House of Art Munich – Munich

In a previous life, Artur Walther was an investment banker on Wall Street. Then he started collecting photographs from Europe, China and Africa. In the meantime, he can present the works from his Walther Collection in several exhibition halls at the same time – currently the Haus der Kunst with “Trace – Formations of Likeness”.

Artur Walther takes his time. On a Sunday afternoon he welcomes visitors to his exhibition campus in Burlafingen near Neu-Ulm. It’s a flying visit for him, because the collector actually lives in New York. But the village in the motorway junction between the A7 and A8, where he was born in 1948, has gained new meaning for him in recent years. Here he opened his private art collection for photography and video art in 2010: The Walther Collection. Since then, he has regularly shown exhibitions here, and this is where he comes when there is a large exhibition with works from his collection somewhere in Europe, as is the case at the Haus der Kunst in Munich.
