Tourism – Tui remains optimistic – economy

Despite new setbacks for tourism, Tui expects the travel business to remain relatively stable in winter. Many vacation spots that had to be taken out of the program at the end of 2020 can be booked – and are also in demand. “Unlike last winter, almost all destinations can be visited again at the moment. The winter season has picked up speed accordingly,” said Tui Germany boss Stefan Baumert. The travel company is also relying on the effects of getting used to it by customers: In the meantime, the willingness, especially for regular testing, is no longer a major problem. However, a number of virologists and health politicians point to the “vaccination gaps” in some regions. According to Tui, classic destinations such as the Canary Islands are ahead when it comes to winter bookings. However, many customers decided at short notice. It can be seen that “during the cloudy days at home, the desire for sun and beach increases steadily,” said Baumert.
