Tourism – Tui is optimistic – economy

After a profitable summer, the Tui travel group is counting on continued high demand next year. The number of customers could almost reach the pre-crisis level of 21 million in 2023, said the new Tui boss Sebastian Ebel. In the 2022 financial year, which ended at the end of September, the world market leader for package tours counted 16.7 million guests because corona travel hurdles had been removed by the summer. “We also expect a solid and good year 2023, but are very aware of the external market factors.” The consequences of the Ukraine war, pandemic, inflation and high energy prices as well as exchange rate fluctuations are taken into account in the forecast. Because of the uncertainty, this is initially rough: strong increase in sales and significantly more operating profit. The great desire to travel in the summer brought TUI an operating profit for the first time for the year as a whole. Adjusted operating profit was EUR 409 million.
