After a six-day strike, the famous Paris attraction is reopening to visitors. A solution was found to end the strike.

The Parisian Eiffel Tower will reopen from Sunday after a six-day strike. As the operating company SETE announced, an agreement had been reached with the trade union organizations to end the strike, which provides for the creation of a body to monitor the economic model, the development of labor investments and the company’s income. The committee should meet every six months.

Staff went on strike on February 19 out of concern for the condition of the Paris landmark. It accused the city of Paris of raking in millions from the sale of tickets and saving money on maintenance. The accusation was that the Eiffel Tower was rusting and was in poor condition.

The operating company SETE announced that the contract with the city, which runs until 2030, should be revised and that they intend to reduce the financial payments to the city in order to take into account the loss of income during the corona pandemic and the additional costs of renovating the building. Employees should receive an assurance that their working conditions and pay will not be affected.

The more than 130-year-old tower not far from the Seine was built for the Paris World Exhibition and completed in 1889.
