Matej Mohoric won stage 19 of the 110th Tour de France by a razor-thin margin. After 172.8 kilometers, the 28-year-old Slovenian prevailed in Poligny, just ahead of Kasper Asgreen from Denmark and Ben O’Connor from Australia.

Matej Mohoric won the 19th stage of the 110th Won the Tour de France by a razor-thin margin. After 172.8 kilometers, the 28-year-old Slovenian prevailed in Poligny, just ahead of Kasper Asgreen from Denmark and Ben O’Connor from Australia.

Augsburg’s Georg Zimmermann finished eleventh. Zimmermann and Nils Politt were part of a leading group at times. Due to a broken chain, however, the Cologne Politt lost contact with the group and fell back.

As expected, nothing changed at the top of the overall standings. Denmark’s defending champion Jonas Vingegaard continues to lead by more than seven minutes over Slovenian rival Tadej Pogacar. The Tour victory can hardly be taken from Vingegaard with two remaining stages to Paris.

Before the final act in Paris, the drivers can expect another tough last mountain stage. On the journey through the Vosges six climbs have to be mastered, the two most demanding at the end. After 133.5 kilometers and almost 3,500 meters in altitude, the winner of the tour will be decided on Saturday evening in the Le Markstein ski area near the German border. Due to the position in the rankings, leader Jonas Vingegaard could give breakaways a generous lead.
