Tour de France: Hindley wins first Pyrenees stage of Tour – sport

Australian professional cyclist Jai Hindley from the German team Bora-hansgrohe has won the first of two Pyrenees stages of the 110th Tour de France. Hindley prevailed after 162.7 km in Laruns and thus conquered the yellow jersey.

Top favorite Jonas Vingegaard (Denmark/Jumbo-Visma) took a few seconds off his constant rival Tadej Pogacar (Slovenia/UAE Team Emirates) on the demanding stage with the first mountain in the highest category, Col de Soudet (1540 m). Emanuel Buchmann (Ravensburg/Bora-hansgrohe) finished fourth, followed by Giulio Ciccone (Italy/Lidl-Trek) in second place and Felix Gall (Austria (AG2R Citroen Team). Vingegaard finished fifth, the Dane is now 47 seconds behind Hindley in the overall standings. Buchmann is also well placed: in fourth he is 1:11 minutes behind.
