After Nils Politt’s victory on Thursday in Nîmes, the peloton set off for a long stage which could end in a sprint. The perfect opportunity for Mark Cavendish to win a 34th victory, and thus equal the stage victory record held by Eddy Mercks. But beware of the breakaways, which could play a bad trick on the Briton. Beware of the edges also for the leaders of the race, with possible gusts of wind.
