In and of itself, myrmecology is a most honorable science. Ant research, as it is called in German, sometimes even unearths amazing parallels between ant colonies and human societies. Conversely, people do not like it when they are researched like ants, i.e. when journalists or scientists bend over them and analyze: What is this strange little animal doing again, and above all: why?
