Update from January 5th, 8:28 p.m.: Eric Dier is no longer in the squad at his club Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs will face Burnley FC in the FA Cup this evening at 9 p.m. and will be completely without the services of the defender. The move is said to have been agreed with FC Bayern, reports transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Meanwhile, another hurdle to the transfer seems to be slowly being removed. Tottenham only want to let Dier go once a replacement has been signed. This is said to be Radu Dragusin, defensive all-rounder from FC Genoa. Talks between Dragusin, Genoa and the club are expected to take place over the weekend.

Update from January 5th, 6:44 p.m.: While FC Bayern seems to be well advanced in their transfer efforts with Eric Dier, another defender is probably off the list – at least for the time being. Trevoh Chalobah was the focus of FCB in August 2023, but should now not be considered a transfer target, reports transfer expert Fabrizio Romano X. Other clubs are now said to be significantly more interested in Chalobah.

FC Bayern probably reaches an agreement with defense specialist Dier

Update from January 5th, 2:52 p.m.: FC Bayern is said to be in agreement with Eric Dier in the event of a possible change. This is what transfer experts Florian Plettenberg and Fabrizio Romano report. The first report comes from the English portal football insider.

However, those responsible at Säbener Straße have not yet decided whether they want to sign Dier permanently and are continuing to explore the market for alternatives. FCB coach Thomas Tuchel should put pressure on those responsible and demand a prompt commitment in the defensive area. This was already an issue at Säbener Straße in the summer and Tottenham would probably not put any obstacles in the defender’s way.

Is FC Bayern’s summer flirtation getting hot again?

Update from January 4th, 5:58 p.m.: Bayern are still on the lookout for a defensive all-rounder. The name Trevoh Chalobah could now come into play again. The Englishman was already considered a candidate in Munich in the summer and has also been linked to the German record champions in recent weeks.

According to information from Sky-Reporter Florian Plettenberg, the summer flirt could now be hot again. There is now first closer contact between Chalobah’s club, FC Chelsea, and FC Bayern. A loan is therefore likely. The 24-year-old central defender, who can also play on the right side of defense and in defensive midfield, is currently suffering from thigh problems. However, according to Plettenberg, Chalobah should be ready for action again at the end of January and could therefore strengthen Bayern in a timely manner.

Defender search: FC Bayern are probably turning down their next dream player

Update from January 4th, 7:55 a.m.: The search for one or more defensive specialists determines FC Bayern’s winter transfer activities. Loud Sky Fikayo Tomori from AC Milan is also said to be a candidate at Säbener Straße. The Munich team is said to have already inquired about a transfer. The problem: The Rossoneri don’t want to give up Tomori, similar to FC Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo.

The Englishman is also currently injured and will not be able to start training again until February. Nevertheless, FCB sports director Christoph Freund seems to be a big fan of Tomori and, according to the report, Bayern’s renewed advance is possible. The Englishman is under contract with AC Milan until 2027 and has a market value of 40 million euros.

Surprising turnaround? Different reports on FC Bayern’s alleged desired transfer

First report from January 2nd: Munich – Thomas Tuchel will welcome his team for the first training session of 2024 on January 2nd. The short winter break is over for the FC Bayern stars, but nothing will likely have changed in the squad by the time of the first training session.

FC Bayern is looking for a flexible defensive player

But that should change in the next few weeks. The problem is particularly in defense due to injuries and withdrawals for the Asian and African Cups. The list of candidates on Säbener Straße is long, Ideally, we are looking for a defensive specialist who can hold the central and full-back positions. Like Takehiro Tomiyasu.

The Arsenal FC professional was already linked to the Munich team in the summer. However, a transfer did not take place. The German record champions could now make a new attempt in winter.

Different media reports on the alleged Tomiyasu release

However, Bayern are probably not alone in their interest. Like the Italian newspaper Il Mattino Reportedly, SSC Napoli is also said to be interested in the Japanese. The paper even claims that the Gunners would be willing to let Tomiyasu go on loan in the winter. A transfer model that would also be interesting for Bayern.

The report from Italy comes as a bit of a surprise. So far, various media reports have always said that Arsenal FC would not give their defensive specialist permission to move. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also does not expect the 25-year-old to be transferred. The Italian reports much more that Tomiyasu is about to extend his contract with the Gunners and will definitely not leave the Londoners in the winter.

Tomiyasu takes part in the Africa Cup of Nations with Japan

Even if approved, a Tomiyasu transfer to FC Bayern seems extremely unlikely. The 25-year-old is taking part in the Asian Cup with Japan and, like Minjae Kim and Noussair Mazraoui, will miss the first few weeks of the year.

In addition to Tomiyasu, another player from England also seems to be on FC Bayern’s wish list. Liam Brazier is more of a promise for the future. (kk)
