Total referee chaos in Turkey: expulsions and strike

In Turkey, several top referees will no longer be used in the future. Many colleagues are now considering a boycott.
Turkish football rocked by referee earthquake The Turkish FA suspended several top referees with immediate effect.
Cüneyt Cakir, who has already refereed three European Championships and two World Championships and was also scheduled for the 2022 World Cup, will also be there. He is considered one of the best referees in the world.
The association’s referee committee justified the process with a change that they now want to initiate. There was no criminal background.
But the timing and the vague justification cause great criticism. Out of solidarity with his colleagues, FIFA referee Mete Kalkavan first informed the association that he was no longer available.
Turkey: Referees consider boycott
Fenerbahce President Ali Koc has now confirmed that Arda Kardesler and Halil Umut Meler are also boycotting their weekend assignments. Meler was only in action on Tuesday in the Champions League game between Manchester City and Sporting Lisbon. Other referees are probably also considering a boycott.
