Tornadoes in the USA: Numerous deaths feared in Kentucky

More than 50 people were killed in tornadoes in the United States. As announced by the governor of Kentucky, at least 50 people died in his state alone. There are also said to be deaths in Arkansas.

Several tornadoes have swept across the southeastern United States, killing numerous people. In the state of Kentucky alone there were “probably at least 50 deaths,” said state governor Andy Beshear. Three people died in the state of Tennessee and at least two in Arkansas, according to CNN.

A tornado hit a nursing home there that evening, the building collapsed and 20 people were trapped inside. According to official information, the building was cleared within two hours.

In southern Illinois, rescuers were on duty after the roof of a warehouse owned by mail order company Amazon collapsed due to storm damage that trapped employees inside the building.

There was also at least one death in Missouri after severe storms, some of which were referred to as tornadoes, swept across the Midwest and parts of the South from Friday evening to Saturday morning.
