The German singer Clueso was a guest on the ARD “Tagesthemen” on Friday evening and spoke to presenter Caren Miosga about the situation in the culture industry during the corona pandemic. In contrast to last year, it is now possible again for artists to give concerts, but with different editions nationwide. In addition, each organizer can decide for himself whether he applies the 2G rule and thus only grants access to those who have been vaccinated and recovered, or whether those who have been tested may also participate under 3G.
He sees this situation as “very ambivalent,” said Clueso. On the one hand, he doesn’t want people to get sick at his concerts. On the other hand, the idea of art and music is “that everyone can come”. It is very difficult “to push the card to us that you have to make the decision as an artist,” complained Clueso.
When asked about the “#allesdichtmachen” campaign, with which several artists around the actors Volker Bruch and Jan Josef Liefers criticized the federal government’s corona policy in the spring, Clueso said: “I didn’t get it. Perhaps you would have had to provide a small package insert . It’s a sensitive topic and you have to treat it sensitively. I didn’t think it was clever. “
Clueso visits Caren Miosga in the “Tagesthemen”
He himself came through the crisis comparatively well and paid a tour cancellation fee for his musicians last year. “They were very happy because they expected the money and the tour.”
At the concerts, which he was able to give again in the meantime, he noticed how much he missed the response from the audience and “the bass on stage”. Nevertheless, it is still difficult to plan a tour in the long term. In particular, tickets for large halls would only sell slowly. “There is still a long way to go before we are back where we were,” said the 41-year-old.
In October 2020, the punk musicians of the band Die Ärzte were interviewees in the “Tagesthemen”. They appealed to politicians not to forget the culture industry in the Corona crisis. Before that, they had opened the “Tagesthemen” with a mini-appearance. Clueso also sang a song before the start of the “Tagesthemen”, accompanied by a pianist and a saxophonist.
